Somato Emotional Release

SOMATO-EMOTIONAL RELEASE is a therapeutic process that enables a patient to free his body from the residual but enduring effects of past traumas and negative experiences.

THE BODY CAN REMEMBER …

When someone has an accident or suffers an injury, their body absorbs the forces of the impact and, if the body’s self-regulation mechanisms do not dissipate this physical force afterwards, the victim’s tissues will retain inside part of the force of this impact. When that happens some body areas can experience tissue dysfunctions and altered fluids movement.

… AND FEEL !

Depending on the victim’s emotional state at the time of the trauma, such energetic contractions are more likely to appear and stay. If someone is, at the time of the lesion overwhelmed by negative feelings such as anger, sadness, resentment or fear, for instance, they will more likely retain the forces of the impact within their tissues and develop an energetic cyst.

HOW DOES SOMATO-EMOTIONAL RELEASE WORK?

As the therapist starts working on the patient’s body and lesion, the patient experiences again vivid emotions connected to the original trauma. They may smile, cry, get angry as they remember specific details of a situation, or without any apparent reason. SOMATO EMOTIONAL RELEASE can happen during the session, in the following days or while the patient is sleeping. As it experiences again the negative aspects of the trauma, the body tells us that it has been able to release at least part, if not all, of the original emotional connected to the physical trauma.

WHAT IS THE ROLE OF THE THERAPIST?

When the patient experiences these reactions, the therapist acts as a facilitator whose role is to engage the patient’s consciousness and subconscious, so that the emotions linked with the trauma can be fully processed, understood and resolved. Thanks to his/her sensitivity, training and experience, the therapist can localize which body areas have stored the memories and feelings associated with the trauma, and can enable the patient to acknowledge and experience them again through his/her light touch and therapeutic dialogue.

SOMATO EMOTIONAL RELEASE has nothing to do with regression, psychoanalysis or hypnosis. The patient is 100% aware of the process. The therapist merely makes it possible for the patient’s internal wisdom to relieve a strain that was altering them at the physical and emotional levels. This way, the patient feels they have been freed, physically and emotionally.

In SOMATO EMOTIONAL RELEASE the therapist’s motto is : RESPECT, PATIENCE, HUMILITY AND INTENTION.
